Communications service providers and the rise of open-source networking

For decades, communications service providers (CSPs)- including telecommunications carriers, cable service providers, satellite broadcasting operators, and more- have been entrenched in closed, proprietary networking solutions running on vendor-specific hardware. There have been, however, CSPs undergoing a significant transformation: They're abandoning traditional proprietary solutions in favor of an open-source approach to network architecture that enables more agility and innovation.
