As Java reaches its 30th anniversary, it remains a dominant force in enterprise technology, driving innovation in cloud computing, DevOps, and artificial intelligence. The 2025 State of Java Report, based on insights from over 2,000 Java professionals, explores key industry trends, including the continued migration away from Oracle Java, Java’s evolving role in AI development, and strategies for optimizing cloud costs.


The findings reveal that 88% of Oracle Java users are considering a switch due to pricing concerns, while 50% of organizations use Java for AI applications, surpassing other popular languages. Additionally, 71% of companies report overprovisioned cloud resources, highlighting the need for cost-efficient Java strategies. Security challenges persist, with 49% of organizations still affected by Log4j vulnerabilities and 33% of respondents say their DevOps teams' time is wasted on false positives from security scans.
