Quantifying the hidden cost of asset invisibility in the US Public Sector

Missing equipment costs public sector agencies far more than its replacement price, and leaders need to understand the full impact of theft and loss.

Based on a 2026 survey of U.S. public sector leaders, this report shows that 72% of agencies without asset tracking experience theft at least once a month, 6.5x the rate of those with tracking. Meanwhile, 22% of new equipment purchases go toward replacing missing items.
